Define: The corona-virus pandemic is an ongoing pandemic of corona-virus disease known by COVID-19. Its symptoms include fever, cough, fatigue, shortness of breath, and loss of smell. Complications may include pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome. The time from exposure to onset of symptoms is typically around 5 days, but may range from 2 to 14 days.  It spread between people during close contact, often via small droplets produced by coughing, sneezing, or talking. People may also become infected by touching a contaminated surface and then touching their face. It may survive on surfaces for up to 72 hours.

The first known case may trace back to 1 December 2019 in Wuhan, Hubei, China. Within a month, the number of coronavirus cases in Hubei gradually increased. According to official Chinese sources these were mostly linked to the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, which also sold live animals, and one theory is that the virus came from one of these animals.
A pneumonia cluster of unknown cause was observed on 26 December and treated by the doctor Zhang Jixian in Hubei Provincial Hospital, who informed the Wuhan Jianghan CDC on 27 December. On 30 December, a group of doctors at Wuhan Central Hospital alerted their colleagues of a "SARS-like coronavirus".
During the early stages of the outbreak, the number of cases doubled approximately every seven and a half days. In early and mid-January 2020, the virus spread to other Chinese provinces. On 20 January, China reported nearly 140 new cases in one day. Later official data shows 6,174 people had already developed symptoms by then. on 24 January indicated human transmission, strongly recommended personal protective equipment for health workers, and said testing for the virus was essential due to its "pandemic potential". On 30 January, the WHO declared that the coronavirus was a public health emergency of international concern. By 26 March, the United States had overtaken China and Italy with the highest number of confirmed cases in the world. As of 23 April 2020, more than 3.11 million cases have been reported worldwide; more than 217,000 people have died and more than 928,000 have recovered.

Treatment:
There is no known vaccine or specific antiviral treatment. Primary treatment is symptomatic and supportive therapy. The Best Recommended preventive measures include hand washing, covering one's mouth when coughing, maintaining distance from other people, wearing a face mask in public settings, and monitoring and self-isolation for people who suspect they are infected.
